Legal

This page is practical product documentation, not legal advice. The license files in the repository control the software license.

wgw-deploy is licensed as FSL-1.1-ALv2.

In practical terms, the Functional Source License allows use for permitted purposes and excludes competing use. The license text defines competing use as making the software available to others in a commercial product or service that substitutes for the software, substitutes for another product or service offered using the software, or offers the same or substantially similar functionality.

The license text specifically includes internal use, non-commercial education, non-commercial research, and professional services for a licensee as permitted purposes.

The ALv2 future-license shape means the software receives an Apache License 2.0 grant on the second anniversary of the date the software is made available, as described in the license.

Read the license files before relying on any summary.

Using wgw-deploy internally is different from offering wgw-deploy-like hosting as a product.

If you want to run a commercial hosted service that offers the same or substantially similar functionality, get written commercial permission from the licensor first.

The hosted service is a convenience layer for the CLI. It does not grant you rights to deploy content you do not own or have permission to publish.

You are responsible for:

  • The content you deploy.
  • Domains you attach.
  • DNS records you create.
  • Compliance with Cloudflare terms and any third-party terms that apply to your content.
  • Removing content you no longer want published.

Hosted deploys are public static sites. Do not deploy private, regulated, or secret material unless public distribution is intended.

Self-hosting does not remove the software license. It changes who operates the infrastructure.

When self-hosting, you are responsible for Cloudflare account configuration, API tokens, routes, custom hostnames, logs, billing, abuse handling, availability, retention, and deletion.

The license provides the software as-is and disclaims warranties and liability. See the license files for the exact text.

The software license does not grant trademark rights. Do not present an unrelated hosted service as the official wgw-deploy or wgw.lol service.
